Results are in from the Aug. 2 Primary Election.
The Clermont County Board of Elections released the unofficial results shortly after the polls closed.
Contested races on the ballot in Clermont County were:
For Member of Democratic State Central Committee, Man for the 14th Ohio Senate District
The candidates were Randy E. Basham and Ben Brady.
Brady won the primary with 1,348 votes, as compared to Basham’s 836 votes.
For Member of Republican State Central Committee, Man for the 14th Ohio Senate District.
The candidates were Melvin A. Dean, Chris Hicks, Christopher Orleck, and Greg Simpson.
Simpson won the primary with 4,318 votes, as compared to Hicks who received 1,340 votes, Orleck who received 823 votes, and Dean who received 708 votes.
Non-contested races were:
For Member of Democratic State Central Committee, Woman for the 14th Ohio Senate District.
Candidate Melissa Cropper won the election with 2,105 votes.
For Member of Republican State Central Committee, Woman 14th Ohio Senate District.
Candidate Gloria Martin won the election with 6,485 votes.
For State Representative, State Representative 62nd, Representing the Democratic Party.
Candidate Brian Flick won the election with 1,487 votes.
For State Representative, State Representative 62nd, Representing the Republican Party.
Candidate Jean Schmidt won the election with 3,690 votes.
For State Representative, State Representative 63nd, Representing the Democratic Party.
Write-In Candidate Richard J. Perry won the election with 82 votes.
For State Representative, State Representative 63nd, Representing the Republican Party.
Candidate Adam Bird won the election with 2,672 votes.
According to the unofficial results, of the county’s 144,382 registered voters, some 9,576 ballots were cast during the election, bringing the voter turnout for the primary election to 6.63 percent.
