The 19th century Gregg Hotel came down this week. Built mid-century in the 1800s, the building fell into disrepair in the past generation, and the Village of Batavia bought it for nuisance abatement. Unable to find a developer willing to invest enough in the old building to ring it into suitable condition, the village demolished the structure on Dec. 8, 2020. Fiscus Trucking & Excavating Inc. razed the building for the village. Batavia expects to use the Main Street side of the property for a green area, with parking on the rear, next to the Batavia Armory Town Hall.
