Federal Funds from the Ohio Traffic Safety Office Help Save Lives in Pierce Township
On April 1, Chief Paul Broxterman announced the Ohio Department of Public Safety’s (ODPS) Ohio Traffic Safety Office (OTSO) awarded the department $6,462.39 in federal traffic safety funding to increase traffic enforcement over the summer months (April – September).
Pierce Township officers will use the grant money to fund overtime work focused on conducting High Visibility Enforcement (HVE) activities in areas with high numbers of crashes to impact actions that contribute to fatal crashes (e.g., occupant protection, speed, alcohol and drugged driving, aggressive driving, motorcycle crash reduction, failure to yield).
The funds are passed through OTSO from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration to support the efforts of safety partners statewide and focus on traffic safety priority areas such as restraint use, impaired driving, motorcycle safety and youthful drivers.
