Why am I running – that’s easy. I am running to be your full-time County Auditor. I strongly believe when you are elected to a county wide office you have a duty and obligation to show up daily to manage your elective office.
Am I qualified – yes. I served this county as the elected Clerk of Municipal Court for three terms. I came in daily to manage a highly complex office. I know what it takes to be an effective elected official. As Clerk along with other duties I served as the bookkeeper of the Municipal Court. My office collected and disbursed millions of dollars annually. My office was audited by the Auditor of the State of Ohio annually who never made a finding against my office. In other words, my office passed with a clean audit annually. My background also includes a B.A. in Economics from the University of Cincinnati where I graduated with honors, Summa Cum Laude, Phi Beta Kappa. My work background includes farming, banking, State of Ohio Tax Commissioner Agent/Auditing.
What will I do as Auditor? First and foremost, I will show up daily to manage the Auditor’s office. I will ensure fair and equitable property evaluations for all property owners: business owners, homeowners, farmers, and senior citizens. I will have all Auditor employees report to work, no more working from home, to ensure better service to the taxpayer. I will review the recent decision of turning over the selling of dog licenses to a third party vendor who is now constantly sending marketing emails. I don’t know why an in house online credit card payment wasn’t feasible much like the credit card payment system I instituted as Clerk of the Municipal Court. I will also review if dog tag distribution can be returned to local vendors such as feed and hardware stores. I will not hire ex-family or soon to be family members in violation of at least the intent if not the letter of the law. I will also not serve on boards which are clear conflicts of interest according to Ohio Attorney General Opinions dating all the way back to 1920 and 1949.
What do I believe – that’s simple. The values I cherish, the belief in hard work, liberty, the sanctity of life, family, honesty, integrity and God, I was taught by my parents Dr. J.C. Rudd and Christine Rudd. They are my guide to my life and work.
Finally, you’re making a hiring decision between two qualified candidates. One who shows up for work and one who is a 7 term 28 year no show incumbent who doesn’t. Who do you hire? The Clermont County Auditor makes over one hundred thousand dollars a year and serves over 200 thousand citizens. I’LL SHOW UP!
