Howdy folks—We don’t know what is under the road! At the big tile a feller showed me the other day down here under 125 there are beaver.

George Rooks, The Ole Fisherman.
There was their pile of brush and a long 125 here in town at the culvert across from the Feedmill there is a bunch of honeybees. We just don’t have any idea what is around us unless we stop and as they say “smell the rose”. There is so much to see if we would stop and take a look. The good Lord has put lots of critters on this earth for us to enjoy.

I have been watching the Reds baseball and they are doing good. The team they played Friday night they shut them down. It is good to see them do such a good job. I would like to see them in the playoffs this fall. That would be great. The Grange is having a homemade ice cream social this year. I used to dip the ice cream but now I can’t so I will collect the money. There will be several different flavors of ice cream, cake and maybe a hotdog or something and drinks. That is one way the Grange has to raise money to do the services we do.

I was talking to some folks that had fishing poles in their car and the feller said they had been fishing at East Fork by the dam and the kids had caught several channel cats, bass. a few crappie and of course some bluegill.

I talked to Mike at the bait shop in Afton. He said he had been up to St. Clair Lake fishing in a tournament and caught several smallmouth bass and other fish. He said the fishing here at East Fork is getting better with lots of crappie, sauger, blue catfish, channel catfish and once in a while a musky being caught. Now the hunting season for deer starts September 25. The limit of deer to be harvested is three for Clermont County. Some counties have a limit of four deer and a couple or three counties have a limit of one. Mike said he would like to go back up to St. Clair but it is a six hour drive. Now here at East Fork and at Grant Lake, several nice bass have been caught.

Talked to Sherry’s Lake and the lady said Sherry had a big crowd last night. There was a 36 pound shovel head catfish caught and lots of channel catfish. I talked to Cedar Lake and the big catfish caught there were a 46 pounder and a 47 pounder. They are also catching lots of channel catfish which makes for a good meal.

I talked to Jarman’s Greenhouse over by Felicity and the lady said they have 1500 mums, straw and other items to sell. Now on September 11, they are having a Fall Market so mark your calendar. All these greenhouses have something special for the fall.

God bless all …
