Dear Editor at The Clermont Sun,

Hello! My name is Kayla and I have been visiting my local library a few times a month for 15 years. It isn’t just the books, it is a place I can take my kids for storytime, or different activities. They’ve had petting zoos, even sharks from the aquarium! Third spaces are so important for communities and our youth. A place for kids to get off the screens for a bit and learn something new. Reading is such a fundamental life skill, and our libraries are so, so, so important. Any given day there is a parent of a young infant checking out rhyming picture books, a child learning to read his first words, a grandparent using the computer to send an email to their grandkids. Libraries aren’t just books, they have computers and resources to help someone look for and apply to a new job. Please save our libraries!

Sincerely,

Kayla Robertson
