At West Clermont, being WC Strong is more than a slogan — it’s a commitment to providing students with the tools, opportunities and support they need to succeed. Nowhere is this more evident than in the high school’s new Aerospace program, a groundbreaking partnership with Sporty’s Pilot Shop that is helping students take flight — both literally and figuratively.
This program, now completing its first year, immerses students in aviation from the start of their freshman year. Students learn that there are various career pathways within the aviation industry, from becoming a pilot to engineering to mechanics to drone operation. I’m proud to be part of something that offers students real-world experience, industry connections and a head start on careers that will shape the future of aviation.
When we say WC Strong, this means we want to be strong not only as a student body, as a staff, as a community and as a district, but we also want to provide opportunities like this and give our students the choice to pursue what they want in the future. I believe this pushes them to be the best version of themselves.
The impact of this program is already clear. Students like Liam Campbell, who has dreamed of becoming a pilot since childhood, now have a direct path to achieving their goals. Others, like Alex Napier, have discovered new passions and career possibilities they hadn’t previously considered. With industry support from Sporty’s and hands-on instruction, these students are actively building their futures.
This is just one example of how the district is setting every student up for success. We continue to be On the Rise!
