Goshen High School’s commitment to providing students with real-world experiences continues to evolve with paid work-based learning opportunities. As part of the collaboration with the Cincinnati Home Builders Association, students involved in the Careers Program in Construction/Conduit Apprenticeship Program (CIC/CAP) are now receiving a cash stipend for their contributions to constructing Outdoor Storage Sheds.
This project enhances the authenticity of the work-based learning experience, instilling a sense of responsibility and professionalism in the students. By compensating them for their work, the program aligns closely with real-life expectations in the workforce, emphasizing the importance of quality and dedication.
Moreover, construction professionals are actively mentoring and leading the project, guiding students through every step of the process. Their expertise and guidance ensure that the project meets industry standards and expectations. The sheds, designed to supply storage space for outdoor gear, tools, gardening equipment, firewood, sporting goods, toys, and more, will be on display at the upcoming 2024 Homearama show in Goshen Township.
This partnership provides students with valuable skills and experiences, fostering a sense of pride and accomplishment as they see their work showcased in a public setting. It exemplifies the power of mentorship and hands-on learning in preparing students for future success in the construction industry and beyond.
