The Batavia Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol is investigating a fatal traffic crash that occurred on Saturday, June 17th, at approximately 1:21 p.m. The crash occurred on Old State Route 32 near Bauer Road in Batavia Township, Clermont County, Ohio.

The preliminary investigation revealed a pedestrian, Scott M. Miller, 46, Batavia, was walking eastbound, just off the pavement edge of the eastbound lane, on Old State Route 32 when he stepped into the roadway and was struck by a 2007 Pontiac Grand Prix, operated by Matthew Waller, 21, Sardinia, as it was traveling eastbound on Old State Route 32. The Grand Prix was additionally occupied by a juvenile passenger.

Mr. Miller was pronounced deceased at the scene by the Clermont County Coroner’s Office. Mr. Waller sustained no injuries and the juvenile passenger in his vehicle sustained only minor injuries, for which he received treatment at the scene.

The patrol was assisted at the scene by the Batavia Police Department, Clermont County Sheriff’s Office, Central Joint Fire EMS District, Clermont County Coroner’s Office, and Tarvin’s Towing.

The crash remains under investigation.
