As we look back on 2022, we remind ourselves that the residents of Union Township asked us to set our minds to one task: Make Union Township the best and safest place to live, work, and raise a family. Union Township is on the move from booming business to community engagement to park improvements to wise financial management. We are well along the way to fulfilling that goal.

Despite the tough economic times, Union Township is hosting tremendous economic growth. Earlier this year, the Board of Trustees approved a zoning amendment to make way for Total Quality Logistics’ expansion which will include a $44,000,000 investment and add 1,000 new jobs to our community. We’re also proud to welcome Hamilton Safe and Sportsman’s Warehouse to Union Township, just to name a few. This type of economic development helps everyone: Entrepreneurs are able to live out their dreams, good paying jobs are created, and the values of our residents’ properties are increased. Business is booming and that’s just one of the things that makes Union Township a great place to live.

While this economic progress is great news, we have not forgotten who we are. We are a suburban community and we want to keep it that way. Union Township is dedicated to smart economic development that preserves our greenspace. So, we started a Parks and Recreation committee comprised of members of the community who meet regularly to discuss and advise us on how to make our parks the best in the county. We also voted to allow dogs at Union Township parks so that all of your family can enjoy the outdoors together, even the furry ones. Please be sure to keep them on a leash and clean up after them. Union Township is beautiful and fun, something else that makes us uniquely Union.

There are so many other exciting things that have happened over the past few months – and even more coming in the future. Union Township started a Farmers Market in the spring, summer, and fall months on Fridays at the Civic Center where you can buy fresh, local fruits, veggies, baked goods, and more. We have hired several new staff members, including a new Township Administrator, a Development Director, and promoted a new Communications Sergeant for the Union Township Police. We have conducted financial analyses so we understand where our assets, liabilities, strengths, weaknesses, and opportunities lie. The community put together several wonderful events, like Police Night Out, the Mt. Moriah Lantern Lighting Ceremony, and the End-of-Summer Celebration fireworks. And we’re just getting started.

It’s the residents of Union Township that make it the best and safest place to live, work, and raise a family. We are proud and grateful to serve you and can’t wait to see what 2023 holds for our community.
