Chief Jamey Mills announced the promotion of Officer Robert West to the rank of Sergeant. Robert West has been a dedicated officer with us for over twenty years, serving as a field training officer, collective bargaining associate, and acting sergeant. During his tenure, he’s trained and mentored many of our officers, earned numerous accolades, letters of commendation, and the coveted Larry J. Oaks Memorial Award. As the senior officer in the Department, he’s earned a reputation for his sound decision-making, positivity, and ethics. Sergeant West’s career goals are to finish his college education, implement a new officer wellness program and to develop today’s officers into tomorrow’s leaders. Sergeant West will receive his sergeant’s badge and chevrons at tonight’s roll call. The official promotion ceremony will take place at the October 19th City Council meeting.
