Former Butler County Development Administrator Michael McNamara has been named Director of Economic Development for Clermont County. The Board of County Commissioners approved the hiring on July 8. McNamara starts Aug. 3.
McNamara served as Development Administrator for five years, a position that included Executive Director of the Butler County Port Authority and President of the Butler County Land Bank.
He closed several multi-million dollar agreements related to a variety of economic development projects in Butler County, including a $140-million sports facility and event center, a $44-million bond agreement for construction of senior living facility, and a $40-million distribution center.
Prior to his most-recent role, he was Chief Deputy, Administration for Butler County Treasurer Nancy Nix for five years, managing a staff of 16. His career path also includes stints with Butler County Board of Elections, the Hamilton County Prosecuting Attorney, Strategic Advantage Consulting, the Ohio Treasurer of State, and the Butler County Clerk of Courts.
“Michael brings a wealth of experience in economic development and public administration,” County Administrator Tom Eigel said. “We’re excited to have him join our team.”

McNamara said: “Butler County has long been one of Ohio’s fastest growing communities, in terms of population as well as job creation and wage growth.
