An investigation last week led to a rare sort of meth bust in the county. Deputies searched a house in the culmination of a three-month investigation March 6 and discovered a meth lab on the premises.

Two residences in the Greenbriar Estates mobile home park in Batavia Township were searched simultaneously, and each turned up evidence of methamphetamine manufacture.

According to Sheriff Tim Rodenberg, one of the buildings searched uncovered what is known as a “red phosphorus” meth lab, a sort rarely found in Clermont County. Most labs employ the use of anhydrous ammonia in the meth cooking process. Sheriff Rodenberg said that this particular residence contained paint thinner, flares, alcohol, pseudoephedrine, mason jars, coffee filters and other ingredients. The second residence contained other ingredients and byproducts. In addition, around $500 of finished methamphetamine was recovered in the search.
