July 31 is the MLB Trade Deadline.
Aug. 1 is the unofficial start of high school fall sports in Ohio. The start dates for tryouts, competitions and practices for boys and girls golf began July 28.
Regardless, practices officially begin Aug. 1 for boys and girls cross-country, boys and girls soccer, girls tennis, volleyball and football. Boys and girls water polo also are set to begin.
Just like Opening Day in baseball, the kickoff of fall sports ignites an electrifying atmosphere for high school. It marks the start of a new school year, with student-athletes stepping onto the field, feeling like they’ve come out of summer break a year older. Football, the most exhilarating sport in the state, brings together fierce rivalries that heat up almost every week, along with vibrant homecoming celebrations and the crisp, refreshing fall weather — truly my favorite season of all.
It’s been a minute since fall sports have been center stage throughout Clermont County. Here is a refresher on all the new aspects of the fall sports, along with a reminder to look out for our annual Fall Sports Preview, inserted in The Clermont Sun.
