In West Clermont Schools, preparing students for the future isn’t just a mission — it’s a shared responsibility. As Chair of the Citizens Advisory Commission, I’ve had the opportunity to witness firsthand just how deeply our community cares about that responsibility.

Appointed by the Board of Education, our commission brings together parents, educators, business leaders and community members. We are volunteers, but we take our role seriously. We meet throughout the year to ask big questions, examine data and offer recommendations on how our district can continue to grow stronger for our students.

In 2024, our focus was the purpose and design of school. What should learning look like in a world that’s rapidly changing? How can our schools keep pace — not just with technology, but with the wide range of career and life paths our students are preparing for?

We looked closely at student-centered learning. At what it means to have a modern educator workforce. At how we create spaces and partnerships that truly support student growth. And we kept coming back to one clear goal: making sure every student in West Clermont is future-ready.

That doesn’t just mean college-ready. It means ready for technical, manufacturing and service jobs. Ready for military enlistment. Ready for any path they choose.

We also heard clearly from employers: they’re looking for more than technical know-how. They need team members with communication skills, leadership, resilience and the ability to adapt. These durable skills are no longer nice to have, they’re essential.

These are big conversations. And they take time. But the CAC is committed to listening, learning and supporting this district as it looks ahead.

On behalf of the entire Citizens Advisory Commission, I want to thank the West Clermont community for trusting us to do this work. We’re proud to be part of the district’s commitment to helping every student learn, lead, and succeed. We are WC Strong. And we’re building a future that’s ready for anything.
