This is what a dominant defense can do: Williamsburg High School’s girls basketball team forced more turnovers (42) than it allowed field goal attempts (33) Jan. 2 at Clermont Northeastern.

After playing the Wildcats close – and briefly leading in the first quarter – the home team scored only five points in the final three quarters as Williamsburg solidified its status as the best team in the Southern Buckeye Athletic and Academic Conference National Division, 56-15. Clermont Northeastern’s frustrations grew as the game went on. The Rockets missed multiple layups and free throws (5-for-18), as Williamsburg challenged every dribble, every pass, every shot. The Wildcats are now 12-1 overall and 4-0 in the SBAAC National. Clermont Northeastern is 6-6 and 2-2.

Williamsburg coach Donnie Donohoo said games are an extension of practice for the Wildcats, who outscored opponents by an average of 26 points per game through the first 12.
