A bat from Goshen has tested positive for rabies, according to local public health officials.

On Aug. 22, Clermont County Public Health shared news that the agency was contacted after a bat was found in a rural barn.

The bat was tested for disease by an Ohio Department of Health laboratory.

The bat tested positive for rabies.

According to CCPH, the incident is isolated, and there is no threat to the public.

CCPH shared information about rabies:

-The virus is spread through the saliva of an infected animal and affects the central nervous system.
