Five people are dead and one person is in critical condition after a two-vehicle crash over the weekend.
The crash happened at about 1:43 a.m. on Oct. 6 on state Route 28 at Edenton Pleasant Plain Road in Goshen Township, according to information shared by the Batavia Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol.
Mathew Penny, age 25, of Cincinnati, was driving a 2005 Chrysler 300 northeast on state Route 28, according to a preliminary report.
Dustin McDole, age 43, of Goshen, driving a 2007 Subaru Legacy northwest on Edenton Pleasant Plain Road.
Penny hit McDole’s vehicle as it was attempting to cross state Route 28, according to the investigation.
Both vehicles traveled off the north side of the roadway into a ditch and an embankment.
Penny and McDole were pronounced dead on scene by the Clermont County Coroner’s Office.
Penny had three passengers in his vehicle. Chloe Love, age 19, of Loveland, and Dezmen Jernigan, age 18, of Goshen, were both pronounced dead on the scene by the Clermont County Coroner’s Office. Ayden Taylor, age 18, of Milford, was transported to UC Medical Center with life-threatening injuries.
McDole had one passenger in his vehicle; Andrea Iery, age 42, of Pleasant Plain, was pronounced dead on scene by the Clermont County Coroner’s Office.
Both McDole and Iery were wearing seatbelts at the time of the crash.
Goshen Police Department, Goshen Twp. Fire & EMS, Warren County EMS, Loveland/Symmes Twp. EMS, and the Clermont County Coroner’s Office all assisted on the scene.
