The New Richmond Exempted Village School District has once again been recognized by the Ohio Auditor of State for clean financial audits and a commitment to transparency.
This year, NREVSD received the Excellence in Financial Reporting award, acknowledging our meticulous adherence to financial reporting standards. This distinction is awarded to entities that not only file their financial reports punctually but also demonstrate flawless financial practices without significant deficiencies. Complete criteria details are accessible on the Auditor of State’s website.
The district earned the “Highest Achievement in Open and Transparent Government” honor by receiving four stars on the Auditor’s StaRS rating system.
The system awards organizations based on their implementation of best practices regarding Ohio Sunshine Laws. Last year, for an audit covering the 2021-2022 fiscal year, NREVSD earned three stars out of a possible four.
This time, NREVSD met the criteria to earn all four stars by implementing five or more best practices. These practices include implementing methods to track and acknowledge public records requests, posting upcoming events and offering official documents online, and identifying and training a public records custodian for the district.
“I couldn’t be happier for our district and the Treasurer’s office,” NREVSD Treasurer Matthew Prichard said. “This is definitely a team effort and it speaks volumes to their hard work and dedication.”
NREVSD Superintendent Tracey Miller echoed that sentiment, adding: “I couldn’t be more proud of this team. I am happy that their hard work and diligence is being recognized.”
