On March 1, 2024, The Clermont County Veterans Service Commission announced the appointment of Stephen Balczo to the position of Executive Director.

Steve retired from the US Marine Corps with the rank of Sergeant Major on May 31st, 2011, after 29 years of service and has a master’s degree in Supply Chain Management from Michigan State University. His military assignments encompassed multiple locations and duties including all three legs of the Corps: Aviation, Combat Arms, and Logistics. As a Marine, he was deployed for two and a half years supporting operations around the world.

Steve’s military decorations include the Legion of Merit, the Meritorious Service Medal with two gold stars, the Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal, the Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal with two gold stars, the Combat Action Ribbon, the Navy Unit Citation Ribbon, the Meritorious Unit Citation with 3 bronze stars, the Good Conduct Medal with one silver and three bronze stars, the National Defense Service Medal with one bronze star, the Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal, the Southwest Asia Service medal with two bronze stars, the Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, the Military Outstanding Volunteer Service Medal, the Sea Service Deployment Ribbon with four bronze stars, the Marine Corps Recruiting Ribbon with one bronze star, The Kuwait Liberation Medal (Kingdom of Saudi Arabia), and the Kuwait Liberation Medal (Government of Kuwait).

Steve’s thirteen years civilian experience includes working with companies to develop strategies for improving workplace processes, logistics, time management and employee relations. As a certified Lean Six Sigma Green Belt, Steve has experience in data analysis, project management, and operations.
