A thirty-two-year-old man has been indicted on rape charges involving a 13-year-old girl.

On Sept. 7, Clermont County Prosecuting Attorney Mark J. Tekulve announced the indictment of Nelson Smith.

Smith was indicted for six Counts of Rape of a child under the age of 13, one Count of Gross Sexual Imposition, and two Counts of Sexual Battery, according to information from Teckulve’s office.

Smith faces 40 years to life in prison if convicted.

Smith admitted to engaging in vaginal intercourse, digital penetration, and cunnilingus with the child and making her perform fellatio on him. The child was 12 and 13 years old at the time of the various offenses that Smith admitted to committing, according to information from Teckulve’s office. There is an additional Count for when she was even younger.

Smith was said to have been asking family members for money to purchase a plane ticket to travel to Florida. He was apprehended by Clermont County Sheriff’s Deputies at a rest stop on Interstate 75, North of Interstate 275. The Ohio State Highway Patrol then transported Smith to the Butler County Jail where he awaited transportation to Clermont County.
