An Amelia man has been arrested for shooting and killing the owner of a tattoo studio, Stay Gold Tattoo Studio, in Batavia Township.

The Clermont County Sheriff’s Department shared the information in a Jan. 8 news brief.

According to the sheriff’s department, the Clermont County Communication Center received a 911 open line call from the area of 1792 state Route 125 in Batavia Twp. on Jan. 8 at 11:22 a.m.

While the dispatchers did not have any direct communication with the caller, they are said to have heard a verbal dispute over money, followed by gunshots.

Road patrol deputies from the sheriff’s office responded as did surrounding law enforcement agencies.

At 11:25 a.m., the first officer arrived on the scene and located the victim, who was later identified as Brian Wilson, age 42, of Batavia.

Wilson was lying unresponsive in the westbound lanes of state Route 125, just east of the state Route 132 intersection.

Emergency medical services responded, but Wilson succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene, according to the brief.

Crime Scene Unit detectives from the sheriff’s office responded and made further investigations and processing; Michael Patrick Guilfoyle Jr. was at the scene and was identified as Wilson’s shooter.

Wilson’s body was transported to the Hamilton County Coroner’s Office for an autopsy.

Guilfoyle Jr. was arrested and charged with one count of Aggravated Murder, a felony of the first degree, and one count of Aggravated Robbery, a felony of the first degree.

Guilfoyle Jr. appeared at Clermont County Municipal Court on Jan. 9. He is currently being held in the Clermont County Jail; his bail was set at $5 million.

The investigation remains ongoing and will be reviewed with the Clermont County Prosecutor’s Office.
