More than 120,000 United States patients are currently waiting for organ transplants. Each day, about 80 people receive an organ transplant. Each day, 20 people die waiting for an organ transplant.
The numbers are overwhelming, but there is a way you can give hope to a family right here in your neighborhood. The family of 14-year-old Maria Schumann has asked COTA for guidance.
COTA helps families who are facing life-saving transplant by providing fundraising assistance and family support. COTA funds are used for transplant-related expenses, and COTA’s services are provided free of charge. The COTA for Maria Schumann community companign is organizing fundraising events and activities in our community.
Maria was born with tricuspid atresia and pulmonary atresia, a chronic heart condition requiring her to have a lifesaving heart and liver transplant. Maria is in need of the transplant in order for her to live a “normal” life. WIthout the transplant, she will not be able to. Your kind contribution to COTA for Maria Strong will allow COTA to help her family with a lifetime of transplant-related expenses.
