East Cincy Yoga will open its permanent location in Batavia on Nov. 1.

The yoga studio’s day-long grand opening celebration, featuring free classes, demonstrations and door prizes, will run from 9 a.m. to 6:15 p.m. on Nov. 8.

Lori Kirsch, of Amelia, is the owner of East Cincy Yoga. Kirsch graduated from Cincinnati Yoga School and has been teaching yoga for two years.

“I love to teach,” Kirsch said. “The meaning of yoga is to bring a union back to the body, mind and breath. Yoga is beneficial for everybody because you can move slowly, moving your breath, or you can excite your mind, just by changing your breath.”

She added, “When you really get into it, you get a good workout.”

Kirsch said one of the biggest misconceptions about yoga is that you have to be flexible to do it.

“But, that’s why you come to me, to increase your flexibility,” Kirsch explained. “And, yoga will help as you ease into body changes that come with getting older.”

For the past year, Kirsch has been renting studio space and teaching yoga at Days of Wonder School, located at 150 W. Main St. in Batavia.

She has also been teaching yoga at various locations of the Clermont County Public Library, which are free to the public.

“There are a lot of people on the eastside that want to try yoga out, but there are limited locations in this area,” Kirsch said.

Her desire to expand her class schedule and offerings led her to open a more permanent location.

“I wanted to be able to have instructors come in and teach different styles for different classes. And, I wanted to be open different days to have different opportunities for other holistic offerings, such as hula hooping and drum circle,” Kirsch explained. “I plan to offer a lot of different styles of things, and there could be instructional classes down the road.”

She added, “There are a lot of stay-at-home moms that maybe don’t want to open up their own business, but have a skill and would like to teach a class. I’m happy to meet with them and talk about options.”

The new building, which Kirsch is renting, is currently undergoing renovations.

New carpet is being installed, to provide cushion and insulation, and wall hangings and paintings from local artists will decorate the studio.

“The vibe at the studio is such that you feel at home, like you’re going to your second home,” she said.

Kirsch said she is very enthusiastic about the new location and offerings and open house.

“I can’t wait. I think this is wanted in the area, and I’m so thrilled,” Kirsch added.
