Mercy Health, which provides advanced, quality care with compassion in your neighborhood through its care network, announces that the Lung Cancer Alliance has named Mercy Health – Anderson and Clermont Hospitals Screening Centers of Excellence for their ongoing commitment to responsible lung cancer screening.
The two hospitals join more than 300 screening centers across the country following best practices outlined by Lung Cancer Alliance.
Low dose CT screening for lung cancer carried out safely, efficiently and equitably saves tens of thousands of lives a year.

Designated Screening Centers of Excellence are committed to:
providing clear information based on current evidence on who is a candidate for lung cancer screening complying with comprehensive standards based on best practices developed by professional bodies such as the American College of Radiology, the National Comprehensive Cancer Network and the International Early Lung Cancer Action Program for controlling screening quality, radiation dose and diagnostic procedures within an experienced, multi-disciplinary clinical setting

In addition to offering smoking cessation classes and resources, Mercy Health’s lung cancer screening and pulmonary care program aligns with the United States Preventive Services Task Force recommendation that persons at risk for lung cancer receive low dose CT screening for early detection of lung cancer and prevention of lung cancer deaths.
