Jenny Lee Scott passed away on June 26, 2025, in Batavia, Ohio. With her passing, another member of her great generation is gone. She lived through momentous times-the Great Depression, World War ll, and the upheavals of the 1960s.
Born in Lafollette, Tennessee and orphaned at age four, she was cared for by relatives in Lima, Ohio. She entered into foster care when she was nine. She supported herself as a waitress through high school.
She married Clyde Coon in Van Wert, Ohio. They raised seven children. With Clyde, she found what she most wanted-a real home. They moved to Cincinnati, Ohio, where Clyde taught at Mariemont High School.
Jenny was known as That Mom, loved by her children’s friends and her husband’s students. She offered love, support and some really good cooking to all who congregated at her table.
After her husband died, she had the good fortune to marry Lester Scott with whom she worked at the Keebler Company. They travelled, rehabbed houses and served as camp hosts at East Fork State Park for many years.
Jenny’s children were Craig, Tonya, Chris, Scott, Kip, Chip and Tom Coon. Lester added two more to the family-Jeff and Angie Scott.
