Shirley May (Knauer) Adams, age 73, of Williamsburg passed away peacefully surrounded by her family and friends on April 4, 2024, in her childhood home.

Shirley was born on May 11, 1950, to the late Charles and Leona (Croswell) Knauer. She was preceded in death by her sister, Charlene “Chuckie” Knauer.

She is survived by her son Ben (Angela) Adams of Hamersville, daughter Sarah (Jeremiah) Spurlock, of Williamsburg, loving grandchildren Isaiah (Kaitlyn) Bradford, Alexis Bradford, Haylee (Terell Drake) Adams, Connor Adams, and Sawyer Adams, great-grandchildren Makenzleigh Bradford, Myles Drake, Macklin Russell (like a great-grandchild), nieces Carla Smith and Tayler Smith, and nephew Tyler Smith.

Shirley’s life was lived by always helping others. She never turned her back on anyone. If you needed a place to stay, her home was always open. She was a retired teacher who taught at Williamsburg Elementary School. She absolutely loved teaching and loved all her students. Every time she was out somewhere anyone that knew her would come and hug her tight. She loved her grandkids and her great-grandkids with everything!

She was a believer of Christ and loved the Lord with her whole heart. Her love and unwavering devotion to her family will be forever missed.

We will have a celebration of life in the gymnasium of Williamsburg Elementary School on her birthday, May 11, 2024, from 9:00 a.m. -1:00 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, please call your local school district and put money on a needy child’s lunch ticket, pay off school fees, pay field trip fees, or any other monetary needs as seen fit by the school administration. Please do this in honor of Shirley’s “Scatter Sunshine” motto.
