John B. Jackson Sr. passed away on Sunday, February 26, 2023, at his home in Blanchester, Ohio at the age of 94. Beloved husband of the late Harriette (nee Berning) Jackson, for 50 years. John was born on April 24, 1928, to Bluford and Gladys “Dolly” (nee Summers) Jackson. John attended Deer Park High School and graduated in 1947. While in school he worked with his father, Bluford in the family hardwood flooring company that was started in 1919 and is still going strong today.

He married his high school sweetheart on September 25th, 1948. He started racing boats and was a national champion in 1954. When he was finished racing boats, he bought a farm in Fosters (Maineville) and started a successful Quarter Horse facility, complete with a breeding program, raising and selling horses and showing all the way to 2 National Championships and many State Champions, with his daughter Jill and the horses they raised.

In 1973 John sold that farm and purchased land in Blanchester. He had a house built along with a 24-stall barn and moved 40 horses into the new facility. He was a member of both the Ohio Quarter Horse Association and the Southern Ohio Quarter Horse Association. It was during the years of showing horses, that he purchased his first semi in 1969. In 1980 he purchased Redbank Transport and moved it, and the flooring company, from Madeira to Milford where they are still operating successfully. Today, the family-owned and operated trucking company has 80 plus trucks in the Cincinnati area hauling aggregates as well as over-the-road materials.

John enjoyed going to stock car races with his son David and grandsons Danny and Carter. Later it was go-kart racing with his grandson Chris VonBargen.

He loved his family, his farm in Blanchester as well as his farm in Warsaw, Kentucky. After turning the day-to-day operations over to his 4 kids, he drove a dump truck and hauled grain for his neighboring farmers. He had a passion for driving and liked the camaraderie with the other drivers. He was very independent and lived on his farm even after his wife died in 1999. He still did his household chores and enjoyed bush-hogging around the farm. John will be missed by his entire family, present and past employees, and all that met him.

He is survived by his 4 children, Johnny (Sharon) Jackson, Jill (Mike) Jones, David Jackson and Denise (Rodney) Allen. 13 grandkids: Ryan (Kate) Jackson, Shannon (Joe) McCullough, Pat (Kelley) Jackson, Erin (John) Smith, Andy (Krista) Jackson, Megan (Richey Ricketts) Jackson, Vince (Kelly) Jones, Carter (Mandy) Jones, Becky (Craig Haack) Jackson, Danny (Melissa) Jackson, Chris (Ali) VonBargen, Bryan (Nicki) Allen and Michele Allen. 32 great-grandkids and the late great-grandson Dillon Jones. 4 great-great-grandchildren.
