There are several updates from Tate Township.

The Tate Township Board of Trustees met on Jan. 10 for its regular monthly meeting. A summary of the meeting was provided by the township.

Below are some of the business items that were covered during the meeting:

– All the township trustees and the fiscal officer were present at the meeting.

– The zoning report showed that there were two permits issued in December for a garage and a porch.

– Deputy Erik Pike’s report showed that he had 48 calls, took 9 reports, conducted 13 investigations, and closed seven reports. He noted that the entire Clermont County department is now outfitted with “live” body cameras, and they will be activated to turn on anytime weapons are drawn, tasers are drawn, or overhead lamps/lights are turned on.

– The Bethel-Tate Fire Department’s December 2022 report showed that the department had a total of 199 calls, including 61 fire calls and 138 EMS calls.

Assistant Chief Dave Long’s last day before retirement is Jan. 23.

There will be three full-time positions posted. They are funded by the Federal Emergency Management Agency.

The 2023 fire department rooster was approved by the trustees for the State Marshal’s office.

Eric Smith will take over the light maintenance on BTFD equipment.

– According to the December 2022 cemetery report, there were seven burials, two foundation orders, and nine graves sold.

– The roads report showed that crews have been trimming trees and clearing debris in culverts and in the right of ways on township-owned roads.

The next regular trustee meeting is scheduled for Feb. 14.
