The boys tennis season in Clermont County came to an end at the sectional tournament last week.
No area athlete was able to advance to the district round, but a handful were able to pick up some postseason victories.
In Division I, teams from Milford, West Clermont and Goshen battled at Mason. Milford’s Yusif Rustom defeated Goshen’s Eric Eickenhorst 6-1, 6-1 to advance in the tournament. He fell to the top seed, Mason’s Vignesh Gogineni, 1-6, 1-6 in the second round.
West Clermont’s Aaron Schneider dropped his first-round match to Northwest’s Christian Brown 4-6, 1-6. Teammate Nick Colwell fell to Ross’ Noah Cornelius 3-6, 3-6.
Milford’s Carson Haywood won his opener against Kings’ Justin Garter 6-4, 6-2. Haywood would fall to Mason’s Eric Tang 0-6, 0-6 in his second match.
Goshen’s Thomas Bradley defeated Hamilton’s Eathon Strafford 6-4, 6-3 to open the tournament. Bradley then dropped a 0-6, 0-6 match to Princeton’s Abhi Patel.
Milford’s Ben Altemuehle fell to Sycamore’s Jeff Sung 1-6, 6-0 to open the tournament.
In doubles play, Goshen’s Will Dennison and Blake Luthy defeated two athletes from Western Brown 6-2, 4-6, 6-4. They would fall to the top seed in their next match.
West Clermont’s Joey Johnston and Phoenix Simpson won their bout with Princeton’s Esham Shah and Sneham Patel 6-1, 5-7, 6-3. The Wolves dropped a 2-6, 2-6 match to Kings in the second round.
Milford’s Matt Altemuehle and Reiland Eubank fell to Kings 3-6, 3-6, but their teammates came out of the tournament with one win in doubles play.
Legan Reindl and Wyatt Lindsey defeated Harrison’s Tyler Ferry and Carson Parnell 6-1, 6-4. That duo would fall to Sycamore in the next round.
West Clermont’s Shrey Patel and Connor McCoy bested a pair from Northwest 6-2, 6-0 to start the tournament. They were swept by Indian Hill 1-6, 0-6 in the second round.
In Division II, Batavia’s Josh Berger won his opening match 6-1, 6-4 over Madison’s Isaiah Puls. Berger fell to the top seed, Avi Mahajan, 0-6, 0-6 in the second round.
CNE’s Daus Tengler dropped a 0-6, 2-6 match to Georgetown’s John Bowman in his first match.
New Richmond’s Jack Nicoloff won two matches. He defeated Norwood’s Aaron Barr 6-0, 6-0 and Madeira’s Charlie Cochran 6-2, 6-3 to advance to the semifinals.
Nicoloff fell to Majahan 6-0, 6-3 in that match.
Batavia’s Ty Sheperd won his opening-round contest, defeating Madeira’s Owen Henry 6-2,6-4. Sheperd dropped a 2-6, 3-6 decision to Wyoming’s Thompson Blade in the second round.
Another Lion, Caine Holcom, fell to Seven Hills’ Charlie Ringel 3-6, 2-6. Batavi’as Max Applegate dropped a 4-6, 6-7 match to Georgetown’s Jaxson Galley in his opener.
CNE’s Luke Ortega won his first-round match 9-7, 6-3. He then fell to Georgetown’s Jayson Marks 0-6, 0-6.
Ethan Dragoo (New Richmond) won a pair of matches, defeating McNick’s Jakob Tucker 6-1, 6-0 and Galley by that same score.
He fell to Cincinnati Country Day’s Abhijit Jagtap 6-1, 6-4 in the quarterfinals.
CNE’s Grayson Moore dropped his opener 0-6, 1-6 to Madeira’s Lincoln Jones.
In doubles play, New Richmond’s Jackson Miller and Chase Hogan fell to Batavia’s Mason Weisbrodt and Kyler Myers 6-4, 4-6, 4-6.
Weisbrodt and Myers would win their next match in three sets, taking down Wyoming’s Cullen Batsel and Conor Bergen 6-1, 4-6, 7-5.
They would drop their next bout, a quarterfinal decision against Seven Hils’ Colin Yeager and Neel Parameswaran, 1-6, 3-6.
CNE’s Dennis Williams and Charlie Frey fell to Madeira 1-6, 0-6 in their tournament opener.
Lower in the bracket, Batavia’s Luke Thompson and Brayden Weber defeated a duo from Georgetown 5-7, 6-0, 6-3 to advance to the quarterfinals.
Their season ended one match later with a 0-6, 0-6 loss to a pair from Seven Hills.
Shep Lansaw and Adam Ernst (New Richmond) dropped their tournament opener to Wyoming’s Janick Schneider and Avi Rosenberg 7-6, 1-6, 2-6.
Felicity tennis competed at the Division II tournament at the Lindner Family Tennis Center in Mason.
Caleb Ninichuck’s season ended with a 6-1, 6-0 loss to Mariemont’s Nick Kohlman. Colton Stamper battled Summit Country Day’s Matthew Casanas for three sets, falling 3-6, 7-6 (4), 5-7.
Braden Blackburn dropped a 6-1, 6-0 match to Waynesville’s Ryan Metzler, ending his season.
Nathan Baker and Luke Jennings picked up Felicity’s lone win of the tournament, taking down a duo from Finneytown 6-1, 6-1. They would fall in the next round to a pair of athletes from Indian Hill 0-6, 1-6.
In doubles play, Felicity’s George Bracher and Zander Cummins fell to a duo from Fenwick 0-6, 1-6.
