More than 80 students from all over the state recently participated in Ohio Connections Academy’s Second Annual Art Showcase exhibiting works in digital photography, graphic design, and fine arts.

More than 110 photographs, designs, illustrations, and paintings were submitted by middle and high school students for this year’s event which, like last year’s inaugural event, was held virtually due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Ainsleigh Arick, a freshman from Milford, participated in this year’s exhibit and shared two of her photographs that she titled “Cave” and “Sunset.”

Ainsleigh has been attending Ohio Connections Academy since 2017 and she appreciates the helpfulness of the teachers and the schedule flexibility that enables her to do photography as well as volunteer at her church.

“I enjoy photography because it’s a way to express myself without words,” Ainsleigh said. “Words can only take you so far.”

Ohio Connections Academy photography teacher Alex Campbell helped coordinate the event and said he’s impressed with the talent and creativity of the students and the commitment of the OCA staff to create a forum for students to share their work.

“Following the tremendous response and participation we had at last year’s showcase, we were very pleased to have this opportunity to share the talent and creativity of our students again this year,” Mr. Campbell said. “We are so proud of our students and thankful that they continue to share their outstanding creativity with their fellow students and our faculty.”
