Every day is a great day to hike – but especially on Saturday, June 5, for National Trails Day®.

Started in 1993, American Hiking Society’s National Trails Day® is a day of service and advocacy for hometown trails like those found at Cincinnati Nature Center.

Recently named ‘Best Hiking Trail’ in Cincinnati by CityBeat readers, the Nature Center has nearly 20 miles of award-winning trails.

You can celebrate National Trails Day® by coming out for a hike or signing up for one of many programs that weekend. Come back to complete all 17 trails and you can become a Hike for Your Health Trailblazer.

Also on National Trails Day®, Cincinnati Nature Center will launch its new mobile guide. The guide features GPS trail navigation with blue-dot technology, educational scavenger hunts, guided tours, and more. To celebrate the launch, the first 1,000 guests will receive a free bag of trail mix to enjoy on their hike.

“National Trails Day is a great opportunity for our dedicated hikers to enjoy the trails they love, and for those new to hiking to discover the many health and recreational benefits of getting out in nature,” said Dr. Jeff Corney, Cincinnati Nature Center Executive Director. “This June, in particular, we look forward to celebrating our hikes in nature together again. We also want to take this opportunity to heighten awareness that our shared green spaces and the trails within them are community treasures well worth preserving and protecting.”
