A number of organizations, including the National Guard, were at Crossroads Church on May 21 to distribute food.

Alida Hart, president and CEO of Inter Parish Food Pantry, told The Sun it was “heartwarming to see the community come together at a time like this.”

“The food distribution drive was made possible with partnership of the Freestore Foodbank, National Guard, Crossroads Church, Jungle Jim’s and Inter Parish Ministry,” she said. “It’s been challenging to make sure everyone has food on their table. This would not be possible without the help of these organizations coming together to help provide.”

Hart said they targeted school districts in food deserts located in Clermont County.

“In spite of today’s cold and rainy weather, 1,000 forty-pound boxes of food was distributed to over 3,900 individuals. Partnering with the FSFB, National Guard, Crossroads East Side Church and Jungle Jim’s, IPM was able to expand its reach within the community,” she said. “This is such a challenging time for so many families, we want our neighbors to know we are here to lend a helping hand.”

All are welcome, and no registration or IDs are required, Hart said.

“We only ask that the families have space in their trunks to place the food boxes,” she said.

The next food drive to collect food at Crossroads on Saturday, May 30, 10 a.m. to noon. Drive by and drop-off, with no contact required.

IPM also takes donations through its website at interparish.org or people can please call 513-561-3932 for more information.
