The Clermont Chamber of Commerce held its first Marketing Roundtable March 10 to help business professionals learn more about marketing strategies for their companies.

John Melvin, director of the Small Business Development Center at the Chamber, said they first began round table discussions with human resources employees to discuss and learn more about HR practices.

“We decided to do the same thing for marketing,” Melvin said. “This is the first of four sessions.”

The speaker at the first session was Kendra Ramirez, director of digital strategy for EMI Network.

Ramirez talked with participants about the importance of content for digital marketing, driving potential customers to a company’s website, profiling customers, analyzing results, having a plan for future content and more.

Digital marketing isn’t black and white, but rather a continual learning process, Ramirez said. Discovering the right channels, frequency and execution will help companies with their marketing, she said.

“You have to have content moving to your site,” Ramirez said.

The presentation was insightful, Mike Teeters, with Fat Dog Video, said.

“I thought there was a lot of good information,” Teeters said.

Teeters said he is planning to come to future roundtable sessions.

“It’s definitely worth coming,” Teeters said. “There’s always room to learn.”

Alicia Inman, digital marketing director of Cleriti, will be the next roundtable speaker on June 23. Annie McManis, president and owner of Copperfox, will be the third roundtable speaker on Sept. 29.

The final roundtable will take place during the Business Technology Summit, which will be held at the Holiday Inn and Suites in Eastgate Oct. 28.

The summit will feature a lineup of speakers throughout the day tackling many technology and marketing subjects.
