The new year marked a new job for Kevin Wiedemann, the new emergency services chief in Williamsburg Township.
Wiedemann has been working for the Fire Department for 28 years, starting as a volunteer in 1986. He became assistant chief in 1997.
Wiedemann followed in his father’s footsteps to the department, he said. His father volunteered from 1985 to 2009.
Wiedemann has lived in Williamsburg since his junior year of high school and really loves the community, he said.
The other employees and volunteers at the department are great to work with, Wiedemann feels.
“It hasn’t really sunk in yet. They call me chief and I still look around,” Wiedemann said.
The Williamsburg Trustees recognized Wiedemann at their Jan. 26 meeting.
Wiedemann was a good pick for chief, said Trustee Guy Bainum. He has great experience and is well liked in the community.
Wiedemann was one of eight applicants, all in house.
He was selected for the position in December.
