Jared Holthaus soloed in a single-engine aircraft on Dec. 13. This was his first flight as a student pilot without his instructor in the aircraft.

Holthaus is enrolled in the Aviation Technology: Professional Pilot Program at the University of Cincinnati.

The laboratory portion of the Professional Pilot Program is taught at the Clermont County Airport.

Holthaus is a resident of Milford.

When he completes the two-year program through the University of Cincinnati, he will have earned an Associate of Applied Science degree and a Commercial pilot certificate.
