After nearly a month of practices and a couple of tune-up scrimmages, the Ohio high school football season kicks off with Week 1 on Aug. 22. Having spent four years in Texas covering high school football in the Lone Star State, I am eager to experience autumn in Ohio once again. In Texas, fall-like weather along the Gulf Coast typically doesn’t begin until December, so I look forward to enjoying a change of seasons much sooner.
As many Ohio fans know, teams reach the postseason based on computer points using the Harbin system, making each game important in a team’s 10-game regular season.
