Amelia has a longstanding tradition of baseball excellence at the youth level, and Amelia Knothole President Mike Ream wanted his team to be a part of that rich history.
Now, his team joins the ranks of legendary squads from years past, with their banner proudly hanging alongside the greats of the past.
His team, Amelia Chaos, won the Knothole World Series/City championship and East Region championship at the gold level, the highest level of competition, in 13U play July 8. Most of the kids on Ream’s team were the same ones he coached on his West Clermont youth football team, he said, so familiarity certainly played a factor.
“We’ve been together for three years and they’re very committed,” Ream said. “We’ve been to the city championship gold division every year, and we’ve ended up losing to teams that we beat in the regular season, and thankfully, this year, we pulled it off and got first place.”
Ream’s team is a three-time East Region gold champion, a two-time city runner-up and a city champion in 2025, boasting a 27-0 record in Knothole play. The team was 30-1 overall when factoring in a tournament against other select ball teams, Ream said.
The team was 26-3 in both 2024 and 2023, finishing with an 82-6 record over the three years.
