A couple of local student-athletes competed at the national level this summer.
Casey Kopecky of Loveland golfed in the Optimist Junior Golf Championship National, and Goshen’s Brenna Shepherd competed in the National Junior High Finals Rodeo.
Kopecky made his second straight appearance at the Optimist Junior Golf Championship National on July 20 to 25 at the Trump National Doral Resort and Spa in Miami, Florida. The incoming Loveland sophomore fired a three-day score of 236 to finish tied for 29th place out of more than 100 golfers in the boys 14- to 15-year-old division.
