The City of Loveland is proud to announce that Loveland Symmes Fire Department (LSFD) Fire Chief Otto Huber has been named the 2025 recipient of the Alan Brunacini Fire Service Executive Safety Award, presented by the International Association of Fire Chiefs (IAFC) Safety, Health & Survival Section.

When Chief Huber was notified of the honor, he was left speechless. The prestigious award recognizes a fire chief who has demonstrated exceptional and documented leadership in advancing firefighter health and safety.

Being selected for this award is especially meaningful for Chief Huber. The late Chief Alan Brunacini, for whom the award is named, was not only a professional mentor to Huber but also a close personal friend. Their decades-long friendship and shared commitment to firefighter well-being make this recognition all the more poignant.

Chief Huber will officially be honored this August at the Fire-Rescue International Conference, hosted by the IAFC.

“This is an incredible honor—not just for Chief Huber, but for the entire City of Loveland,” said Mayor Kathy Bailey. “To receive an award named after one of the most respected leaders in the fire service is a big deal. It’s a testament to Chief Huber’s unwavering commitment to firefighter safety and wellness, and it reflects the caliber of leadership we’re fortunate to have here in Loveland.”
