Three talented Clermont County high school graduates who are planning to become teachers were recently awarded scholarships to help them meet their goal. Pictured from left to right is Kadence Shoemake from Williamsburg High School who will be attending UC Clermont with the goal of teaching grades K-4. Next to her is Clara Morlock from Milford High School who will be attending Bowling Green State University also with plans to teach a slightly wider scope of elementary grades PK – 5. Not pictured is the third recipient, Emily Ginn, a Batavia graduate who will also be attending Bowling Green and will be majoring in Art Education for grades K-12.
The Clermont County Retired Teachers Association was founded in 1970. Over the years, there has been two ongoing projects which they have dedicated themselves to, and that is the placing a book in one of the county’s libraries in memory of our deceased teacher members. The other is the yearly future teacher scholarships. Donations, raffles, and book sales have fueled the scholarships. Due to circumstances such as lack of attendance, the association recently voted to disband so this will be unfortunately, the final scholarships being awarded.
