Locals receive tennis sectional draws

Girls’ tennis players across the county now know who they will face off against in the first round of sectional tournament play.

In Division I, Milford’s Amanda Reinhart earned a top-seed and a bye. The junior will face off against the winner of the match between Glen Este’s Abbie Wittmeyer and Wilmington’s Brooklyn Nielson.

Reinhart’s teammate, Mallory Faler, also earned a bye. She will compete against the winner of the face off between Kings sophomore Haley Guerin and Wilmington senior Katie Schroeder.

Amelia junior Kelsey Bose will battle Mason Freshman Anaya Aggarwal in her opening matchup. Teammate Molly Stockton will face off against Glen Este junior Emily Robison with the winner advancing to face Western Brown’s Kasi Boyd.

Milford’s Nichole Spencer drew Loveland sophomore Peyton Beller in her opening match, while Amelia’s Jessica Hansel faces off against Anderson’s Daniel Stith. The winner of that contest will face Western Brown’s Hanna Young in the second round.

In doubles play, Glen Este junior Autumn Clark will team up with sophomore Emily Glassburn against Anderson’s Lamisi Desjardins and Kylie Fender. Amelia junior Mackenzie Clark and sophomore Taylor Hogsed will battle Milford senior Claire LaFrance and freshman Emme Thomas in their first round match.

Amelia sophomore Abbey Marsh and senior Emily Ratlif will face Ursuline sophomore Gracie Estes and junior Carolyn Haney in their matchup. Glen Este junior Deborah Ipinmoroti will team with senior Sarah Kersjes to compete against Western Brown sophomores Brooklyn O’Hara and Savanna Roades.

Another doubles match will pit Milford junior Leah Breuer and freshman Emma Neal against Sycamore freshman Harsitha Kalaiarasan and senior Beverly Liu.

Amelia, Glen Este and Milford will compete in the Division I tournament at the Mason Tennis Complex at Mason Middle School on Thursday, Oct. 6 at 9 a.m. The semi-finals and finals are scheduled for Saturday, Oct. 8 at 9 a.m.

The county teams competing in Division II begin their matchups on Thursday, Oct. 6 at 8:30 a.m. The semifinals and finals of the bracket will be held on Saturday Oct. 8 at 9 a.m., weather permitting.

New Richmond’s Madilyn Walls drew a tough slot for her opener, a matchup against top overall seed Mia Masterson from Cincinnati Country Day. Goshen’s Regan Cravens will face off against the winner of the match between Clermont Northeastern’s Elizabeth Glancy and Maderia’s Michelle Fischer, while Batavia’s Sarah Farris and Bethel-Tate’s Taylor Clark battle for the right to face Blanchester’s Emily Speakman.

Felicity’s Jayln Clark earned a faceoff against McNicholas’ Lauren Alvarez for the right to face Cincinnati Hills Christian Academy’s Leanna Yuan.

New Richmond’s Kara O’Toole will face off against East Clinton’s Isabella Walters. Goshen’s Caroline Clifton faces East Clinton’s Hannah Pickering while New Richmond’s Maria Steinmetz will await the winner of Felicity’s Sydney Stamper and Clermont Northeastern’s Chandra Griffis.

Felicity’s Raylyn Morales faces Clinton Massie’s Anne Thompson, while Bethel-Tate’s Alyssa Barnhouse and Batavia’s Paige Strasel will meet, with the winner advancing to face Goshen’s Kelsey Salmons.

Finally, Clermont Northeastern’s Syler Askren battles Cincinnati Country Day’s Radha Mangu with a match against East Clinton’s Emily Tong in the future for the winner.

In doubles play, New Richmond’s duo of Krista Reid and Taylor Cardarelli drew a bye. They’ll face the winner of Norwood’s Katie Hensley and Lilly Rose against East Clinton’s Haley Harrell and Sydney Michael.

Bethel-Tate’s Tiffany Shouse and Liz Kilgore drew a match against CNE’s Emilee Caudill and Amber Rossman. The winner of that contest will face off against the winner of Goshen’s Dinah Middick and Bailey Glass and Felicity’s Leah Cooper and Jena Brown.

Batavia’s Erin Turner and Chaine Shelton drew a matchup against Clinton Massie’s Amber Winemiller and Megan Wonderly. Lily Cahall and Tori Loving from New Richmond drew Madeira’s Calin Petro and Eva Fischer for their first round match. Bethel-Tate’s Kara Partin and Tori Burkett drew a match against Southern Buckeye Athletic and Academic Conference foes in Batavia’s Megan Wallace and Sam Roberts.

Clermont Northeastern’s duo Cheyanne Stahl and Leah Decature will face off against Norwood’s Emily Isaac and Naomi Griswold. The winner of that contest will earn a bout against either Felicity’s Madison Baird and Nina Cadigen or Goshen’s Sami Huhn and Kassandra Palafox.
