Letter to the Editor: Happy birthday, America

Happy birthday, America. You are 250 years old. We have been a nation for 250 years, and sometimes people take that for granted. We are one of the safest countries in the world, and it is because of the leadership passed down through our founding fathers that built America into what it is today. Two hundred and fifty years ago, when our country’s founding fathers were signing the Declaration of Independence, they were signing our freedom. They are giving us freedom, so we can have freedom of speech and freedom to be happy. Before we had our independence, the USA was called British America, and our founding fathers went bravely and made this country an independent country. But there’s a time for dependence and independence, like when a child is born, they are dependent on their mother and father to take care of them, but one day they become independent; just like our country, we were dependent for a season, then we became Independent. If you enjoyed this, I would really suggest reading The Tuttle Twins books if you want to learn more.

Sincerely, Dominic Benhase, of Eastgate
