Two people are dead after two drowning incidents in East Fork State Park’s Harsha Lake this past holiday weekend.
Chief of Communications at the Ohio Department of Natural Resources, Andy Chow, said that on July 5, Natural Resources Officers responded to an emergency call at 3:59 p.m. for a possible drowning at the main beach at East Fork State Park.
“When officers arrived at the scene, a person had been pulled from the lake. The person was then transported to the UC Medical Center. The officers were informed on Saturday evening by the hospital that the person was pronounced dead,” Chow explained.
On July 6, Natural Resources Officers received an emergency call at 6:49 p.m. July 6 for a person who went missing in the lake at East Fork State Park.
The person is reportedly a 14-year-old boy who was last seen swimming outside the swim zone,” Chow said.
The body was recovered from the lake on July 7 at 12:47 a.m.
Chow noted that both of these are still under investigation, and ODNR officers are continuing to gather information.
