More park improvements to come in 2025
As part of the ongoing revitalization of Nisbet Park, the City of Loveland has been awarded a grant to add a new section of walking trail and to install swings.
The city received a $50,642 grant from the Ohio Department of Natural Resources’ NatureWorks Program to go toward the estimated $67,650 installation.
These mini projects will continue the implementation of the Nisbet Park Master Plan, a guide drafted in 2021. The new walking path will be in the rear of the park near Karl Brown Way, connecting the existing path around the playground to the large shelter house. Swing benches, similar to a porch-style swing, will be installed along the path to showcase views of the Little Miami River. Construction is anticipated to begin in 2025.
“We are excited to add this one-of-a-kind seating area to Nisbet Park. This grant allows us to keep moving forward to accomplish everything in the park plan,” explained Chris Wojnicz, Assistant City Manager.
Park improvements began in 2023 with the installation of a 24-foot diameter gazebo, the first sections of the walking path, and the first outdoor dining area. In 2024, the city added more seating areas, pathways, and landscaping. Future plans include improving river access and constructing a new amphitheater, for which city staff currently is applying for funding.
Nisbet Park runs through the heart of Historic Downtown Loveland and is located just off the Little Miami Scenic Trail. According to a 2022 study by the Friends of the Little Miami State Park, the stretch of the trail where Nisbet Park is located averages 124k trail users a year — not to mention regular park visitors.
