Baldwin Wallace University men’s swimming and diving senior All-Ohio Athletic Conference and Academic All-OAC stroker Tommie McQueary (Batavia/Bethel Tate High School) has been named the Ohio Athletic Conference Men’s Swimmer of the Week for the first time in his career.
McQueary earns his weekly honor after winning one race and being the runner-up another during BW’s non-conference dual meet against Randolph-Macon (Va.) College at the Arlington Park Aquatic Complex in Sarasota, Florida as part of the Yellow Jackets winter training trip.
He won the 100-yard individual medley in a time of 54.60 and was second in the 50-yard butterfly in a time of 24.28. McQueary also swam the third leg on the second place 200-yard medley relay team that finished in a time of 1:41.52.
This season, he has won 11 individual races, been the runner-up in one race and a third place finished in one race. McQueary has also been a part of three winning and two runner-up relay teams.
For his career, McQueary is the two-time defending OAC Champion in the 200-yard butterfly and a three-time All-OAC performer. He holds the school-record in the 100-yard butterfly and 200-yard butterfly. McQueary is also a member of the 200-yard freestyle, 400-yard freestyle and 800-yard freestyle school-record holding relay teams.
Out of the pool, he is a two-time College Sports Communicators (CSC) Academic All-District honoree, Academic All-OAC selection, Dean’s List student, Jacket Scholar and a member of the Chi Alpha Sigma Honor Society.
BW is now idle for the holidays. The Yellow Jackets return to action on Saturday, January 11 when they host a non-conference and Seniors’ Day dual meet against Oberlin College in the BW Natatorium at 1 p.m.
