High school wrestling is a demanding, even violent, sport. Goshen High School’s team has not only been impressive on the mat this season, but off of it as well.
The Warriors Goshen edged Clermont Northeastern by one point, 206-205, to win the annual Bob Guy Invitational at Williamsburg High School Dec. 7. The host school placed fourth, 183.5, and Bethel-Tate was 13th, 74.
In all, nine Warriors placed – Jaxson Valentine, second, 106; Harlan Daniels, fourth, 113; Carson Kessen, third, 138; Kevin Foster, sixth, 144; Gage Croley, first, 157; Caleb Knabb, fifth, 165; Kash Keitz, second, 175; Noah Jarvis, sixth, 190, and Connor Hensley, fifth, 285.
Goshen coach Dan Hil noted the depth of his team this season.
“The tournament had great competition with a lot of teams taking the lead at different points,” Hill said. “Winning the tournament with only one champion shows how every single one of our guys contributed to the win. The wrestlers (who) didn’t place found ways to score critical team points.
