Rachel Morgan
Milford junior libero Rachel Morgan was named first-team all-district and ECC Defensive Player of the Year after helping lead the Eagles to their first district title since 1991. She is your Clermont Sun Athlete of the Week!
Q: What was the key to your team’s success this season?
A: Spreading out our offense was huge for us as well as supporting one another in between plays. Since we are a very young team, it was very helpful to come together after each point and reset.
Q: How good did it feel to give Milford volleyball its first district title since 1991?
A: I was incredibly proud of our team this season, we showed so much growth. Winning districts was one of our goals at the beginning of the season which made reaching it extra special for us.
Q: How much did it mean to you to be named ECC Defensive Player of the Year? What do you credit that accomplishment to?
A: It’s a huge honor to be recognized!! I credit my accomplishment to all of my coaches and teammates who have pushed me every day to become better.
Q: How can your team carry the momentum of this success into next season?
A: As I mentioned before, our team is very young so almost all of us will come back. We still have some work to do in the offseason but I think our future is bright and we just have to continue to work hard every day we are given the opportunity to. Our success has definitely given us confidence which is very helpful for a young team like us.
