Mercy Health is proud to recognize the team at Mercy Health—West and Mercy Health—Clermont Hospital, which earned an ‘A’ grade in The Leapfrog Group 2024 Fall Hospital Safety Grade from The Leapfrog Group, a national nonprofit watchdog that sets standards for excellence in patient care.

“A top grade awarded by the Leapfrog Group reflects the strong commitment to quality care provided by the dedicated team at Mercy Health. We take great pride in recognizing the physicians, nurses, and staff at Mercy Health West and Clermont for their relentless dedication to patient care and the establishment of a safe environment. Congratulations to the teams on this significant accomplishment,” said Brian Gwyn, President of Mercy Health Cincinnati.

“Mercy Health—West Hospital is privileged to be recognized among the nation’s top hospitals for our dedication to patient safety and quality care,” said Jason Asic, president of Mercy Health—West Hospital. “This recognition highlights our commitment to prioritizing patient care, even amidst the numerous challenges facing the health care sector. I am proud of our team and commend every member of the Mercy Health—West family for their exceptional hard work.”

The Leapfrog Hospital Safety Grade is the only hospital ratings program exclusively based on hospital prevention of medical errors, infections, and injuries that kill more than 500 patients a day nationally. The Leapfrog Hospital Safety Grade is peer-reviewed, fully transparent and free to the public. Grades are updated twice annually in the fall and spring.

Leapfrog assigns general hospitals across the country an “A,” “B,” “C,” “D,” or “F” grade based on over 30 national performance measures reflecting errors, accidents, injuries, and infections, as well as the systems hospitals have in place to prevent harm.

“Our staff at Mercy Health—Clermont is an outstanding group of individuals, and I take pride in our hospital’s ‘A’ safety grade,” said Tim Prestridge, president of Mercy Health—Clermont. “Achieving this level of excellence requires dedication at every level and a steadfast commitment to prioritizing our patients. I extend my heartfelt thanks to all our clinicians, staff, and volunteers for their deep care for our patients and their safety.”
