Burrel Dean Saylor, of Amelia, Ohio, passed away on November 2, 2024, at the age of 102.

Burrel was born on February 12, 1922, to the late William Henry Harrison and Alice Ann Hooker in Murphysboro, Illinois.

Burrel was a World War II U.S. Navy Bomber Pilot on submarine search patrol in the South Pacific.

After an honorable discharge, he was employed with the U.S. Army Corp of Engineers as an accountant in Portland, Oregon during the planning of the McNary Dam to be built in Walla Walla, Washington. Burrel retired as the Mid-West Regional Fiscal Manager for IRS, U.S. Treasury Department, in Cincinnati, Ohio.

Burrel also served as an elder, teacher and music leader at his church and was a council member in Amelia, Ohio.

Burrel is survived by his children: Rita Prince, Peggy (Michael) Morrissey, Kathy Daniel, and Marvin Saylor; Grandchildren, Brian (Cara) Morrissey, Jason (Alli) Morrissey, and Amanda Daniel Brewster, (Bryan Brewster); and Great Grandchildren, Joshua, Emma, and Ethan Morrissey, as well as many other loving friends.

A memorial gathering and service will be held at a future date for Burrel. Private (family only) Internment will be at Pierce Township Cemetery.
